      does anybody know a way to simplify common factors above and below a fraction       in maxima? I have been unable to simplify sqrt(pi) / sqrt(pi) in the following       commands (maxima-5.37.2 in Fedora Linux 23)              kill(all)$              assume(sigma > 0, tau > 0, t0 > 0)$              define(pulse(t, tau, sigma, t0), ratsimp(integrate(1/tau*exp(-(t       -t0)/tau)*1/(sqrt(2*pi)*sigma)*exp(-(tp-t)^2/(2*sigma^2)), tp, t0, inf)));              here I have been unable to simplify the above expression              integrate(pulse(t,tau,sigma, t0), t, -inf, inf);              here I get sqrt(pi) / sqrt(pi) as result!              regards,       --       Alberto              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
