      From: fateman@cs.berkeley.edu              I'm guessing that you are using wxmaxima which displays       %pi and pi       the same. unfortunately. As the lower-case Greek letter.              %pi is the name for the ratio of the circumference to the       diameter of a circle. pi is        some other symbol like pi, pj, pk.              You computation produced sqrt(%pi)/sqrt(pi).       Which is why it doesn't reduce. To fix your program, replace pi       by %pi.
