   since both 1 and sqrt(1) is in that subset of the complex numbers that   
   are real, they can be ordered. comparing 1 and sqrt(-1) the expression   
   is unsimplified, although a plot seems to show max is 1.   
      
   Since there are two values for sqrt(1), {-1,1}, there is another issue   
   but that's already been discussed.
