   The context here is Rubi being ported to SymPy. If five orders of   
   magnitude are lost in execution speed (minutes instead of milliseconds)   
   nobody will be able to validate the SymPy version. The Python-typical   
   loss of one or two orders of magnitude alone will lengthen one week of   
   testing on Mathematica into many months (between two and twenty).   
      
   So (b) is hardly an option. One of the project mentors has to invest   
   into coffee and sacrifice a few nights implementing option (a), I fear.
