From: drarwingnuttephd@gmail.com              AG: Long Island psychiatrist accused of selling prescriptions       Use your key for the next article       Next: The Clinton Papers: Elena Kagan paid off with Supreme Court seat?       September 23, 2014       6:29 PM MST                Nasreen Kader, 48, of Central Islip, was charged with 15 counts of criminal       sale of a prescription for a controlled substance       Nasreen Kader, 48, of Central Islip, was charged with 15 counts of criminal       sale of a prescription for a controlled substance       Photo Credit: New York State Attorney General       A Long Island psychiatrist was criminally charged Tuesday for allegedly       selling prescriptions for highly-addictive medication, without a legitimate       medial purpose, to patients she saw for less than a minute, New York State       Attorney General Eric        Schneiderman said.              Nasreen Kader, 48, of Central Islip, was charged with 15 counts of criminal       sale of a prescription for a controlled substance.              Prosecutors say Kader was caught selling the drugs a dozen times to undercover       investigators who were posing as patients at her Ronkonkoma office. According       to the attorney general's office, each time the undercover officers would       receive prescriptions        for Xanax, Ritalin or Klonopin. Each time she allegedly prescribed Xanax,       Klonopin or Ritalin during visits that lasted "a minute or less," authorities       said.              The attorney general's office became involved in the case after they were       contacted by two Long Island families who claimed Kader had been "over       prescribing" medication to their family members, officials said. During an       investigation, undercover        investigators found Kader - who also had an office in Holbrook - was not       conducted medical histories or examining the patients before writing       prescriptions, the AG said. She is also accused of ignoring remarks the       undercover investigators made about        sharing the prescription pills with other people, according to a news release.              "A drug dealer is a drug dealer, whether they work on the street or inside a       doctor's office," Schneiderman said. "Doctors swear to save lives, and must be       stopped if they are found to be feeding the prescription drug addiction       epidemic that is        devastating families across New York and across our country." Officials said       Kader surrender her medical license in June. She could not be reached Tuesday       evening for comment.                     http://www.examiner.com/article/ag-long-island-psychiatrist-accu       ed-of-selling-prescriptions              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
