   10 indicted in medical fraud case in Va.

   NORFOLK, Va. (AP) - A federal grand jury has indicted 10 people on charges   
   related to defrauding the Virginia Medical Assistance Program.   
      
   According to the 105-count indictment, the defendants conspired to obtain   
   reimbursement payments by submitting false claims for mental health support   
   services in 2011 and 2012.   
      
   Court records say the owner and operator of the Virginia Beach-based   
   Progressive Counseling Services LLC hired the other defendants to provide   
   mental health support services to Medicaid-eligible clients in the Tidewater   
   area.   
      
   Documents said fraudulent assessments of the company's clients were used to   
   obtain authorization to bill Medicaid. Once obtained, the indictment says the   
   reimbursement claims were bogus because most of the counselors were   
   unqualified to serve as mental    
   health professionals, the counseling sessions never occurred and progress used   
   to document the sessions were fabricated.
