From: hounddog23x@gmail.com                      DA: Criminal investigation launched against Singing River Health System              WLOX Staff       Jan 21, 2015 08:20 PM              JACKSON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - Assistant District Attorney Cherie Wade confirms       to WLOX News the Singing River Health System is under a criminal investigation.              She said the district attorney's office, the Federal Bureau of Investigation       and the state auditor's office are all involved in the investigation.              SRHS has been under constant fire since it was made public that the health       system stopped paying into its retirees' pension fund in 2009.              "I am glad we have the appropriate agencies involved to make sure our hospital       and county resolve this matter appropriately," said Jackson County Supervisor       Troy Ross. "Everyone can be assured this will be resolved."               SRHS spokesman Richard Lucas sent out this press release in response to the       investigation:              Singing River Health System has been cooperating and will continue to fully       cooperate with any and all reviews and investigations by any governmental       entity. We are presently doing so with the State Auditor's Office, the Jackson       County Board of        Supervisors, and now the District Attorney's Office. We have been and will       continue to be completely open and transparent with all reviews and       investigations of this or any nature. We are diligently providing all the       information requested by these        entities, and will continue to do so. If there is any evidence of wrong doing,       we want it brought out and handled as quickly and appropriately as possible.       The quality of health care provided by the employees and physicians of Singing       River Health System        remains unchanged.              Aside from this criminal investigation, several civil suits have been filed       against the health system to try to recover money lost in its pension fund and       financial shortfalls.              Wade said details of this investigation are limited because the case is       ongoing.                     http://m.wlox.com/wlox/db_330810/contentdetail.htm?contentguid=Twiq9qId              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
