at a Bupa-run home has been struck off.              Barbara Kowalska, 35, told frail Albert Inggall: 'If you do this again you       will be eating s*** cake' while smearing the excrement in his face.              Kowalska called Mr Inggall a 'filthy, dirty man' as he lay helpless in dirty       sheets at the 34 bedded Donnington Nursing and Residential Home, Newbury,       Berkshire. the BUPA-run Donnington Care Home, near Newbury,       is accused of smearing human excrement on an elderly patient's nose       The resident was very elderly and vulnerable and he had poor cognitive       function, did not have full mental capacity and was incontinent, the Nursing       and Midwifery Council was told.              At the time Mr Inggall was infected with MRSA, which made his face very       painful and he specifically hated his nasal area being touched, the hearing       was told.              When questioned by her manager at the home Kowalska said: 'I'm sorry I have no       compassion for that man, I don't care if you report me.'              Describing the incident on August 25, 2012, Louise Hartley, for the NMC, said:       'A care assistant found the resident had soiled himself and went to Kowalska       for help to clean him up.              MORE...       First husband convicted of keeping his wife in domestic slavery by beating and           Ms Hartley told the hearing that the care assistant was extremely worried by       Kowalska's behaviour but felt intimidated by her.              'The care assistant was distressed by this but was also scared of what Ms       Kowalska's reaction would be when confronted,' she said.              'The care assistant then noticed that Ms Kowalska had faeces on her glove.              The act of wiping faeces on a seriously ill patient's face would be considered       deplorable by fellow practitioners         NMC panel chair Anne Asher              'She raised her hand and wiped it on his nose.'              Ms Hartley emphasised the physical and emotional harm Kowalska's actions had       on Mr Inggall.              'He was extremely vulnerable in terms of health and cognitive function,' said       Ms Hartley.              'Her (Kowalska) actions undermined the dignity of the resident.'              Two separate care assistants described Kowalska 'ranting' at Mr Inggall and       said she was very angry as she felt he had soiled himself deliberately.              One of the care assistants told the hearing: 'She smeared poo under his nose       and said if you do this again you will be eating s*** cake.'              'She knew he hated having his nose touched.'              During a police interview Kowalska admitted that she waved Mr Inggall's soiled       incontinence pad 'more than a few inches' from his face and repeatedly asked       'what's this?'              When asked if she touched his face she said: 'If I did I am not realising       about it but I now remember that he was cleaning his face.'              She also admitted that at times she could be 'stern'.              Kowalska was previously charged with neglect of a person with cleared by a jury at Reading Crown Court (pictured) in July       2014.        NMC panel chair Anne Asher said: 'The act of wiping faeces on a seriously ill       patient's face would be considered deplorable by fellow practitioners.'              'Her explanation centred around how stressed she was at the time and how her       accent was often misinterpreted as harsh.'              'The patient was elderly and vulnerable with a serious medical condition.              Mrs Kowalska's actions were cruel         NMC panel chair Anne Asher              Ms Kowalska showed him complete disrespect and undermined his dignity.              'It is the panel's conclusion that she has deep-seated attitudinal issues and       had not demonstrated any remorse for her actions.'              'Mrs Kowalska's actions were cruel.              'She showed a lack of compassion and respect for the patient.'              Kowalska was previously charged with neglect of a person with mental       incapacity but cleared by a jury at Reading Crown Court in July 2014.              The NMC found it proved that she wiped faeces on the patient's face, called       him a 'filthy, dirty man' and told him 'if you do this again you will be       eating shit cake.'              Kowalska did not attend the hearing and was struck off in her absence.
