XPost: rec.aviation.military, soc.history.war.misc       From: muratlanne@gmail.com              When I was closer to the subject I saw a lot of chatter about how easy it       would be to take down an AWACS or JStars. It looks like they were right, in       reverse.              OTH radar operates at CB radio and WW2 radar frequencies, like Chain Home.       General George Kenney, who was in command of the district and technically       educated, wrote that unexpectedly distant OTH returns caused the "Battle of       Los Angeles" scare. More recently a US early warning radar triggered an       alarm by detecting the rising moon.              https://www.kjrh.com/newsy/that-one-time-the-moon-nearly-sparked-nuclear-war_       Changing the frequency between pulses allows distinguishing the latest pulse       return from delayed previous ones.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
