   Sounds like great fodder for a good science fiction novel - some kid who   
   sees the ring forming, each day a bit brighter in the sky.  Very cool   
   stuff.  How come /our/ moon can't explode and give us a cool ring to   
   look at?  [oblig. Seveneves reference omitted, regretfully].
