   I don't think an "animal rights activist" would be OK in that situation.   
   If it _appears_ so to you, maybe take a trip there and have a chat with   
   people at both sides. That way you'd get slightly more objective picture   
   of the whole.

   Why is it up to "animal rights activists" to find the solution? It's a   
   problem of the community. It seems Hawaiian rulers are the ones with the   
   real solution. If they're not up to the task, I guess only the   
   volunteers are left to do the dirty work. And if the volunteers don't   
   exist, it's bye bye to both kind of animals in the end.
