   Small and large, grid-connected and off-grid.  I'm working with a   
   company that bids on projects large and small, mostly in the developing   
   world.  It's a fascinating time to be in the power business.  You can   
   power villages with solar now that were previously way too far off the   
   grid, and their needs aren't great (no industry, for example) so the   
   benefits are huge.   
      
   My real interest is smart-grid stuff that allows renewables to produce   
   when they can, and offers back-up power when the wind doesn't blow and   
   the sun doesn't shine.  We're getting there, but we're not all the way   
   there yet.   
      
   Still, it's an interesting field and an interesting time to be in it.   
   Work in Africa is totally different from the challenges you'd find in   
   Nevada/Florida these days - the vested interests are different and the   
   politics are too.  Sometimes it's easier, sometimes it's harder.
