What's the difference between a lot of American news sites, and
   tabloids?

   Increasingly little.

I still have faith in the New York Times, but papers like the New York
Post and the New York Daily News are a horror of minimally acceptable
reporting plus a heavy dose of sexual innuendo, celebrity gossip, and
"you won't believe what happened next" garbage.

This has nothing to do with the "fake news" debate. But let's say your
average American news reader is neck deep in pig slop.
