   The advances being made in battery technology these days are so   
   amazing. Lots of interesting work going on. I'm more interested in the   
   grid-scale stuff professionally, but advances in consumer battery tech   
   is pushing the envelope too.   
      
   Remember NiCDs? Seems like ancient history now. Remember your alkaline   
   batteries exploding and running down the desk/wall when spent? Dinosaur age.
