From: here@is.invalid               Photonic technology enables fast, sensitive saliva test for COVID-19              Portable, low-cost instrument for virus detection combines       fluorescence reader and microfluidic chip       ...       ...       "Our instrument, which requires just a few drops of saliva, would be       useful for mass screening in settings such as restaurants, schools,       offices, theatres and cinemas," said researcher Alfredo Ongaro from       ICFO. "What's more, the technology can be easily adapted to detect       markers for other pathogens, including those that may be involved in       future outbreaks."              In the Optica Publishing Group journal Biomedical Optics Express, the       researchers report that the system correctly detected 91.2% of       COVID-19 positive cases and 90% of negative cases in tests of more       than 50 previously frozen saliva samples. The test can measure very       small quantities of virus like PCR tests but is as fast as rapid       antigen tests.              https://www.eurekalert.org/news-releases/944274              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
