   Aren't CO2 lasers used for industrial cutting of fabric?  If my memory   
   is correct about that, then I'd agree with Helmut.  It would sure seem   
   like anything that is good at cutting cotton / polyester / wool / etc   
   would be good at cutting sugar-based material.
