Sickness is firmly etched       in my genes and I wear it proudly.              Did you ever hear of Sigmund Freud? He was also a real sicko.       Sexuality in children!!??? God save the queen!              But at least I do not go around chasing ghosts.              What is intelligence? It is a ghost. The closer one gets       to the concept of intelligence, the more quickly it vanishes.       Intelligence can't be grasped, measured, or palpated because       it doesn't exist -- not in the way that many would like it       to exist.              Yet certain people still hopefully brandish the idea of intelligence       and then utilize the equally frivolous notion of nurture to support it.       Ghosts are in support of ghosts. This is stupidity and delusion in the       highest degree.              The same can be said of the idea of "personality," which also       completely lacks substance. (What these folks really mean is       the idea of "persona" but they are too beguiled to understand       the distinction.)              The scientific literature exhibits a strong trend toward       genetic determination. As techniques improve, this trend       will become even stronger. The superficial psychologies       of the past will be totally abandoned, much like Ptolemaic       astronomy or the medicine of Galen.              It is a brave new world, much too brave for stuffy Victorians.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
