   To me, the pixel refers to the grid that makes up the image, and hence   
   center to center distance is the same as the pitch. The photorecepter   
   site is something else, this is the physical area on the chip that   
   responds to the photons. Unfortunately, these two things are frequently   
   mixed together in talking/writing about image chips.
