|    What happened in Olympus    |

From: redlionbrian@gmail.com              I know it's not strictly optics, but it involves a very well known optical       company. Michael Woodford had been MD at KeyMed, a small endoscope       manufacturer in Southend, when he found himself appointed to the role of CEO       of Olympus itself. He was the first        Westerner to have reached such a high position in a major Japanese       multinational.        What happened next is the stuff of nightmares. It's a gripping story.       "Exposure: inside the Olympus scandal" Penguin 2012. I don't know the man, but       he comes across as a real hero with immense courage, doing what he knows is       right against all logic.       Harold Hopkins once told me he met the man who started Olympus, before it got       off the ground. He said that his endoscopes were some of their first products.              Brian       Ancient and Modern Optics              PS My website Fundamental Optical Design is now open to all visitors, at       fod.serade.org I will get the password removed, but in the meantime, it is       jena.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
