From: dkcombs@panix.com              Am just notth of NY-city, dark at 5pm, go to pick up       wife at train station; all men are wearing black       or dark brown coats and pants, it seems, and are       plain INVISIBLE when crossing the street or walking       along it.              Unless the headlights are pointing right at them (on       high), you can't see these people, as many of them       walk home from the commuter train.              These people, when still near the station, are all       over the place, going every which direction,       AND YOU CANNOT SEE THEM. (Nor could you.)              (I'm sure you know what I'm talking about!)              So I was wondering -- ultraviolet light makes at       least some clothes emit light, light you can SEE.              (1) would dark clothes, coats, shoes, and hats,        and even skin, suddenly become more visible        under ultraviolet light?              (2) Would it hurt anyone's eyes to look right        into it?              (3) Can you buy any that would run off a 12 volt automobile        electrical system?                     I guess you'd mount one on each side of the hood,       pointing 30 or 40 degrees to the side.                     So, what do you think of this idea?                     (Hey, if not ultraviolet, how about gamma rays? :-) )                     Thanks!              David              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
