   I'm not sure what your setup is. However, if I understand   
   it correctly (possible) my suggestion is wrong.  In case I   
   have misunderstood what you have, this my be relevant.   
      
   There is a low possibility that the cube is made   
   incorrectly.  A long time back (from a so called major   
   supplier) I once bought a splitting cube that behaved   
   really weirdly.  It turned out that the two halves were   
   from different glass melts.
