   I would like to learn the basics of illumination engineering and I am   
   looking for a very basic software to try some designs; a software that   
   would be able to do ray tracing, calculate radiometric quantities and   
   would include a few basic sources. I have inquired about professional   
   software (like Trace Pro) and the prices are > 5k; but of course these   
   programs are very sophisticated. Is there around something simple and   
   affordable?
