Extending the temperature range of a FLI

Just thought I'd share this. I have a first gen Flir One thermal imager. The
temperature range is limited to 0C to 100C. I wanted to image a commercial
iron to see the heat uniformity, but its temperature on a cotton setting went
   above 200C.

Thought of a simple solution. I covered the thermal camera only with multiple
layers of polyethylene from a Zip-lock bag. It attenuated the signal and it
worked well. The temperature readout was incorrect, but I still got an great
   image. I suppose I
could scale the reading to known temperatures in the room.
