I viewed the BWTEK and Ocean       Optics' website, they can only provide the spectrometer measures less than       1000 times/second. However, I do see other confocal sensors use spectrometer       which can measure >66000 times/       second. But I cannot find any spectrometer measures that fast.        >        > So here is the question: How fast a spectrometer can measure? Do you have       some recommendations on high speed spectrometer? Wavelength is VIS 400-700 nm.       >        > Thank you very much!       >        > Di Yu       > the Institute of Optics       > University of Rochester              As Phil Hobbs mentioned, there are a lot of methods to make spectrometer       astonishingly fast, using quite unusual concepts.       Standard CCD spectrometer may be used with reading speed up to 20-100Mpix/s,       giving 20-100k spectra/s for detector containing 1000 pixel (giving resolution       around 0.5nm for VIS range). To collect more spectra per second, you can       reduce the number of        pixels (decreasing resolution) or read only a (intresting) part of the full       sensor at once.       Recently we made a spectrometer capable of >>10k spectra/s on 2048 pixel       sensor, and I can tell you that it wasn't a big deal.              regards,       Michal Wlodarczyk       Instytut Fotonowy sp. z o.o.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
