These       measurements then lead to speculation then a theory that will spit       out a math model to make predictions that are consistent with the       measurements made. Measurements must always lead the way to truth.       If not it would be the tail waging the dog.              This being said the twin paradox has been measured. The results of       these measurements is a bit of a surprise. If the traveling twin       take a train from New York to Sam Francisco , west , his clock will       run faster while traveling. I repeat his clock will run faster not       slower while the twin is moving towards San Francisco. This is not       a theory nor a calculation. This is a measurement made so there is       no wiggle room to avoid it. Your twin paradox just got a lot more       complicated.              The measurements made that say the west bound twin's clock will run       faster can be found at Wikipedia.                     https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hafele%E2%80%93Keating_experiment              The hard numbers in nanoseconds for a twin speed of 500 MPH are              eastward =E2=88=92184 =C2=B118 =09       westward +96 =C2=B110              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
