   I read it more than 40 years ago, but Isaac Asimov's The Neutrino: Ghost   
   Particle of the Atom is also a good introduction.  The neutrino doesn't   
   appear until about halfway through, since the Good Doctor first explains   
   the background.  This was before the resolution of the solar-neutrino   
   problem, of course, but is still a good description of hypothesis and   
   discovery.
