After discussion between the sci.physics.research moderators,
we have unanimously decided to close this discussion thread
("Can the 2 ends of a ruler move in opposite direction?")
because a correct and very clear explanation of the apparent
paradox has already been posted (by Rich Livingston in message
   <92d3a166-6f3b-49e0-9cf3-a48699551962@googlegroups.com>, dated 2019-Sept-07).
and because further discussion does not seem to be bringing out
   any new insights.

If anyone has new points to raise, please start a new discussion thread
(possibly quoting articles from this thread if they're relevant).
