From: mail@bobaxter.coo.uk              The son of a friend of mine has a serious psychological problem. He       is 18. Young John is unable to use a toilet if there is any       possibility that others may hear his toilet noises. This applies even       at home or if he is in a locked toilet. He will wait till the       household has gone to bed before using the toilet even if it causes       him much discomfort.              While at high school, he was able to cope with this disability by       asking to go to the toilet during lessons when there would be no other       students around and his teachers knew of his disability and allowed       him to go without quibble.              However, he is now going to university and it is not hard to imagine       the problems if he is living in hall of residence or in shared       lodgings.              Perhaps some of the experienced psychologists in this newsgroup can       give some advice on how to solve the problem. He has been to a doctor       but all he has been told is that he will "grow out of it".              Is this a recognised clinical disorder and what can be done about it?       --       Alasdair.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
