   "Addiction psychology" may be a useful category here. That's probably   
   more a counseling paradigm, so "group therapy" may also probably head it.   
   In that era (1970s-80s) there was as one might say a "flowering" that   
   produced "EST" and "transcendental meditation" and others that were   
   more or less under the aegis of a post-Jungian "New Age" psychology--   
   aka "popular" or "pop psychology" (yet another heading).   
      
   Interesting question, because distinguishing between counseling paradigms   
   that are conceptualized as one-on-one and those that depend on group   
   interactions would seem to be essential here, and the latter may or may   
   not ever have had any theoretical basis clearly articulated as such.
