        In the dullard's defense, he does state, "IF faster-than-light   
   particles do exist..." (Emphasis added). So he does acknowledge they   
   probably don't really exist. Since the speed of light is the fastest   
   speed possible under all applicable laws of physics, it's very   
   probable they don't exist.   
        JTEM may possibly be falling back on "Star Trek: The Next   
   Generation" wherein they did (do?) exist.   
        Or maybe "The Dodleston Messages," in which tachyons are   
   mentioned, is the source of his suggestion.
