   No. Humanity was almost entirely wiped out by volcanic activity   
   which would have seemed insignificant by comparison. It took   
   the northern hemisphere over a thousand years to fully recover,   
   seeing a 20F drop in temperatures until then.   
      
   The global winter kills off plants, which destroys the food chain.   
      
   The oceans are alkaline or "Caustic," the opposite of acid, and

   open waters.   
      
   Drop an egg into a weak acid like vinegar and give it time. The   
   shell will start dissolving. But that's a bit extreme. Instead   
   make it rain sulfuric acid for centuries OR MILLENNIA and see
