   There is no hope of a "global" reconstruction with only a handful of   
   high resolution (one dot every 50 or 60 years) proxies all over the   
   world. Event with these "high resolution" proxies, variation rates are   
   smoothed and should not be compared with instrumental (daily, monthly or   
   annual) data.
