From: Briang1@blueyonder.co.uk              So, what is the current thinking on how the sun can suddenly become more       active than in the so called 11 year max? Is it just that nobody really       knows what the 11 year cycle is about, or is there more to it than that?              I thought the solar cycles were indirectly attributed to the flip of the       suns magnetic field, probably due to the effects of turbulence in a hot       rotating body which obviously is generating currents and hence the field.              If the spots are still active as the sun rotates back around, as it were,       it will be interesting to see if it is still spewing stuff out.              is there any spacecraft able to see the far side to know if the CMEs are       going on when the spots are out of sight?              Brian              --       Brian Gaff....        graphics are great, but the blind can't hear them       Email: briang1@blueyonder.co.uk       ____________________________________________________________________________       __________________________________                                   ---       Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free.       Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com).       Version: 6.0.537 / Virus Database: 332 - Release Date: 06/11/03              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
