   	And as an example of Sheffield's Curse, was so similar to Clarke's   
   that Clarke felt he had to write an introduction explaining that this was,   
   in fact, a complete coincidence.   
      
   	Just changing the setting for the base of the tower should   
   have a huge effect on the plot: basing the tower in Equador, for   
   example, would be very different from putting it in Kenya or on   
   a sea-platform south of Singapore.
