   In general water landings are a maintenance nightmare.  Its OK for a one   
   shot vehicle like Apollo, but guaranteeing that no salt water has leaked   
   into the mechanical and electrical systems is difficult.  Corrosion is   
   enough of a problem on land based vehicles.
