   Makes me wonder if this was thought of during the last hours of Apollo 13.

   LM jettisoned. 141:30:00.2   
   Entry. 142:40:45.7   
      
   So for the last 70 minutes of the flight the crew had to be in the CM,   
   though without the additional shielding provided by the SM, which   
   separated at 137:40   
      
   Could the spacecraft have been in the upper part of the Van Allen belt when   
   the LM was jettisoned?
