I am sceptical of the value of intensive validation. In my experience a long
validation process without appropriate attention to development leads to a
long string of bug reports, which developers proceed to fix by hacking code.
At the end of the day
you are left with something which is designed to pass the tests, but which is
   almost certainly not correct code.
