One of the purposes of the Juno mission, is to
investigate Jupiter's core. Supposedly, it's composed
of solid hydrogen, in metallic state, the result of
   enormous pressure.

Can anyone explain this 'squeezing' process, which
drives the electrons out? Presumably, into a
conduction band, hence a metallic, conducting state.

Pressure is classical, macroscopic physics, whereas
electron orbits are essentially a quantum phenomenon,
deriving from Pauli exclusion, and I don't see how
   to reconcile these domains.
