   Two DIFFERENT transcendental functions, not two of the same.

   f(x) = constant * (x^x) * e(x)   
   ... or similar.  I seem to recall some empirical rate constants that were   
   bizarre, but you'd have to "hold temperature constant" or something, to get a   
   "function of one variable".
