   Procedurally, water is striped out of dissolved CO2 and carbonates   
    by addition of hydrochloric acid and by purging with CO2 free   
    nitrogen.   
   Then, water sample is injected to a furnace with a NiO catalyst,   
    where organic matter is oxidised to CO2.   
   Current equipment usually uses IR absorption measurement of CO2,
