   'NO ONE CAN SEPARATE ME FROM GANGA'

   New Delhi -- Dismissing reports that the  Ganga   
   Rejuvenation and Water Resources portfolios was divested   
   from her for poor performance, an emotional new Union   
   Water and Sanitation Minister Uma Bharti on Tuesday said   
   that nobody can come between her and the holy river.   
      
   She announced that she will begin a year-long padyatra   
   along the banks of the holy river from Gangasagar in West   
   Bengal next month wherein she will create cleanliness   
   awareness among the villagers. However, she was hastened to   
   add that it was not an act of defiance.   
      
   "No one can separate me from Ganga. Ganga is still with   
   me... If I had failed how could (Nitin) Gadkari get this   
   portfolio because I had worked in close coordination and   
   close consultations with him (Gadkari) on Namami Gange   
   project," she said at a Press conference here.   
      
   By assigning me the responsibility of Water and   
   Sanitation Ministry, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has   
   entrusted faith on me as the new Ministry deals with the   
   cleanliness of the banks of the river.   
      
   "This shows that my performance regarding the cleanliness   
   of the river was not bad," Bharti said. She spoke more   
   about Ganga river than her priorities in new Ministry.
