The only way to get       these limits is by looking at a lot of atolls and barrier islands, wave pool       testing & modeling.              As interesting as this science is, it is all moot if melting Antarctic land       ice starts creating a lot of tsunamis followed by large overnight sea level       increases.              If the islanders wait and try fleeing the tsunamis in boats for deep water,       that's not much of a plan. Even if they find a place where the tsunami does       not crest, there will be nothing to return to except maybe a radio tower and       concrete ruins sticking        out of the water which will have risen 1 - 2 orders of magnitude more in one       day than the last 50 years combined.              There may not be many continental water ports that'll be in good enough shape       to accept them so they need to make some kind of arrangements to move to       Australia, California, HI, etc.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
