|    Antarctica's Largest Iceberg Is About to    |

Fresh water ice only melts at 32F.              The water temperature around Antarctica is about 28F. Exactly what it should       be according to it's salinity, of which there is a standard chart.              The air temperature, except on outlying island, never is even close to 32F,       all yr round.              The fresh water ice only melts in direct contact with the saline water.              Even just the time it took for this iceberg to melt, shows the physical       properties of this physical science.              The temperature of the water around Antarctica is determined by the salinity       of the water, not world average temperature.       And it is utterly ridiculous that slight increase of input water temperature,       in the convection caused by the ice water, could affect this temperature and       rate of melting, and that human activity can have any effect at all on this       process.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
