Tropical forest, the Amazon, naturally sequester co2 and produce oxygen.       Greenies will tell the lie that these jungles are carnbon neutral and that       burning them does not affect atmospheric co2.               But if one just considers the amount of organic material carried by the Amazon       River and deposited to the bottom of the ocean, one can see this is not true.               In a report from the British Royal Society aired on the BBC, it was stated       that just the co2 from this burning is greater than that from all the world's       transportation.               Presently, most of this burning is done to clear for the production of ethanol       from sugar cane. It is much more profitable to clear new areas than cultivate       land. So the soil is used to it's maximum and new areas are burned for the       fertile soil of the        rainforest.               Greenie environmentalism at it's best.        And machines to capture co2 run by nuclear reactors, I suppose.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
