XPost: alt.fan.rush-limbaugh, uk.politics.misc, alt.global-warming       XPost: alt.atheism, rec.arts.tv       From: hannity_is_gay@fox.net              Bill Nye Shreds Climate Change Denier, Slams CNN For Giving Skeptic A       Platform On Earth Day                     When someone’s name has been followed for decades by the words “the       Science Guy,” it’s a pretty safe bet that person takes science pretty       darned seriously, which is definitely the case with Bill Nye.              Nye, who participated in Saturday’s March for Science, was invited to       appear on CNN that day — which also happened to be Earth Day — and he       spoke passionately about climate change.              However, CNN also brought in a climate change denier to provide an       alternative viewpoint, but his outlandish claims during the segment led       Nye to scold CNN for providing a platform to promote views about climate       change that have been refuted by the vast majority of the scientific       community.              RELATED: WATCH: Bill Nye The Science Guy Reads Mean Tweets About Himself              William Happer, a Princeton physicist who is an outspoken climate change       skeptic, told viewers that increased levels of carbon dioxide in the       atmosphere are actually a good thing. “You can see the greening of the       earth already, from the additional carbon dioxide in the atmosphere,”       Happer declared.              Happer also dismissed those who do believe the overwhelming evidence about       climate change as “alarmists,” stating that “the temperature is not rising       nearly as fast as the alarmists’ computer models predicted… So the whole       basis for the alarmism is not true.”              At this point, Nye could no longer hold back. “That’s completely wrong,”       Nye retorted. “Say what you will, but you have it absolutely wrong… He’s       cherry-picking a certain model. The heat ended up in the ocean. This is       not controversial in mainstream science, everybody.”              RELATED: Bill Nye, Kerry Washington, George Takei And Other Celebs Show       Their Support For March For Science              Noted Nye: “We’ve got an extraordinary situation here in the United       States, where climate change deniers have managed to introduce the idea       that some uncertainty — say plus or minus 2 per cent — about the       temperature of the ocean is somehow equivalent to plus or minus 100 per       cent. Now, everybody, science is political. We use politics to decide       where to invest our intellect and treasure. But when it comes to climate       change, that is not controversial in the scientific community, any more       than the law of universal gravitation.”              Nye also used his screen time to slam CNN for giving Happer a platform to       spout his views. “I will say, much as I love the CNN, you’re doing a       disservice by having one climate change skeptic and not 97 or 98       scientists or engineers concerned about climate change,” he added.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                         http://etcanada.com/news/220412/bill-nye-shreds-climate-change-denier-       slams-cnn-for-giving-skeptic-a-platform-on-earth-day/              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
