   I'm starting to get a handle on how an IR thermometer works, though I   
   have not yet checked the patent literature. When one has a new   
   measurement instrument in hand one asks questions about accuracy and   
   precision. First thing I did I pointed the red laser beam at my forehead   
   and pulled the trigger. I got a three digit reading about 3 C. belong   
   standard human temperature. I thought this can't be accurate. But it   
   is, I didn't have a fever! This was before I saw all the police and   
   military around the world checking for feverish Covid-19 patients. It's   
   always nice to be in front of the wave.   
      
   An IR thermometer measures the temperature of a surface. The red laser   
   bean is more than just and aiming device. There is a Fresnel lens that   
   focuses the reflected laser light. In standard IR spectroscopy a fused   
   alkali halide window is used.   
      
   The bottom of a cloud layer defines a surface. A reading of -46.6 C. is   
   meaningful. All those police and military around the will never believe   
   anything NASA, IPCC, NOAA or Greta says about temperatures. Satellite   
   measurements do not support their ideology either. I have published   
   about combustion, so I understand it. There are carbon particles so a   
   flame is a black body radiator that lacks a surface. I pointed the red   
   laser beam at a small lighter flame and pulled the trigger. The beam   
   went through the flame and gave a reading 5C. above ambient not 500+ C. as   
   expected   
      
   A surprising number of 'experts" and sheeple have no knowledge of   
   thermodynamics. Carl Sagan and his followers are clueless. It was said   
   that Eskimos/Inuit have 200 words for snow but no word for refrigerator.   
   English is even more ignorant. What does "Global Warming" mean? First   
   it is not global, it is the math impaired average of a bunch of NOAA   
   thermometers that only measure 'Urban Heat'. What does warming mean? Is   
   it higher temperatures or a greater quantity of heat energy? Both the   
   'experts' and sheeple have no clue.   
      
   Next time an 'expert' says the planet gained 0.001 C. last year, one   
   knows he is talking at the level of Greta Thunberg. Modern climatology   
   was never a science. Now that Covid-19 has popularized Infrared Raman   
   Thermometry, science will never be the same.
