Earth's atmosphere       (sky) is losing heat energy into space. The ground follows and radiates heat       energy into the sky. Air convects sideways from across the Pacific and air       temperature is another independent variable. In fact air is subject to       adiabatic warming when it slides down from Mt. Benson.              The ground readings are probably a measure of night time cooling and the       thermal inertia of the tarmac.              The sky reading may be more universal at this latitude. It may be globally       predictive.              Probably the best cold readings are obtained just before dawn when the Sun       heats the sky.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
