      From: kym@kymhorsell.com              On This Day.              Around this time in 1998 the switch-over between different families       of satellite instruments (MSU -> AMUS) combined with a gear change in the       Earth's climate to produce average global land, ocean and land+ocean       temps not seen since Fred Flinstone gradyated highschool.       For ever after -- well up until a couple years later in many casse --       these freak measurments was used as a yardstick to judge       the depth of the current Great New Ice Age.              On another Earth like planet -- but with rules recognised by       >=97% of working scientists -- present La Nina (significantly       colder E Pac than normal) conditions are significantly warmer than the       Super El Nino (sig warmer E Pac than normal) of 1998              --       CO2 has increased by 40% in the past few decades, with no       observable effect on temperatures. What is stabilizing the system?       -- Bill Ward, 24 May 2012                     Year av ocean avL+O av land        (aka O+10%) (aka O+30%)        (deg C rel NOAA baseline aka ~1980s avgs)       2000 0.1523 0.2469 0.4010       2001 0.2481 0.3952 0.6357       2002 0.2741 0.4299 0.6840       2003 0.3706 0.4838 0.6690       2004 0.3588 0.4271 0.5383       2005 0.4100 0.5647 0.8189       2006 0.3811 0.5233 0.7564       2007 0.2945 0.5387 0.9394       2008 0.2615 0.4120 0.6582       2009 0.3695 0.4508 0.5842       2010 0.4274 0.6244 0.9481       2011 0.2865 0.4469 0.7111       2012 0.3671 0.5031 0.7269 <-- Bill Ward       2013 0.4078 0.5352 0.7441       2014 0.5665 0.6262 0.7233       2015 0.7044 0.8810 1.1695       2016 0.7294 0.9605 1.3388       2017 0.6692 0.8656 1.1873       2018 0.6182 0.7380 0.9345       2019 0.7531 0.8899 1.1136       2020(*) 0.7296 1.1557 1.8466               +.3625 +.6526 +1.1197 (rel to Bill Ward temperatures)              (Sources: NOAATEMP).              (*) 1/2 complete.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
