   If someone out there doesnt have access to a timeseries package:

   (3 pts weighted down because too far from trendline)
   y = 1.34596e-11*exp(0.0138284*x)
   Doubling rate every 50.12y
   beta in 0.0138284 +- 0.00673385  90% CI
   P(beta>0.000000) = 0.998212  (T Test)
   calculated Spearman corr = 0.576923
   Critical Spearman 2-sided at 5% = 0.48; reject H0:no_trend
   alpha in -25.0313 +- 13.5221
   r2 = 0.552868

   The World Bank data doesnt have any numbers past 2015 for India
   (it goes to 2019 for many parts of the world, so it looks like
   the numbers have not been submitted).

   The article claims %renewables c2020 is 23.6%. If you put THAT
   value in the doubling time is every 17y.
   So we might conservatively suspect the number calculated by
   (whomever) for the article is on a different basis from
   the WB numbers, above.
   Either that, or there has been a terrific acceleration of
   renewables installs/coal closures in India 2015-2020.
   And that is just too unthinkable, albeit totally consistent with
   the "easily outpaced" soundbyte from the article.
