XPost: alt.global-warming              The virus has been bubbling along and now has come out to play again.       But dont worry -- in a few weeks now will look like nothing is       happening.              The world is finding 1 mn new cases a week with more than 1/2 coming       from Brazil and the USA.              The US is seeing more than 200k cases per week because of all the       testing being done by VP Pence.              Brazil is seeing 220k new cases per wk.              But new cases are still climbing in both countries. The USA is       doubling every 50 days but Brazil is doubling every 15 days. So no       real competition.              Even Floridans think maybe the leadership has let them down. Esp now       there is a ban on going to the beach unless you own frontage. .              Some US states are making the rise in California look tame by comparison.              LA is seeing 12k new cases per wk; SD 1600, SF 200.              Here in AUS the hotspot is Victoria. Initially doing well even by AUS'       low standards, now detecting the undercurrent of new cases that prev       widespread voluntary testing wasn't representative enough of the to get       a hint of before now.              Vic is now seeing 130 new cases per wk but its doubling at Brazilian       rates; the country as a whole 160 per wk but relatively steady       according to the math.              The effect of Vic being even the largest component of the total wont       wash through and set off alarms for a week or 2 yet.              SN ratios and statistics. What are you gunna do?                     Robert Rohde @RARohde 27 Jun 2020 12:01Z       Good news: The USA now has a top tier COVID-19 testing rate at 1.9       tests / 1000 people / day, surpassing most of Europe & Asia. Bad news:       The positive rate is still a high 5.8%, suggesting substantially more       testing is needed to adequately contain the epidemic in the USA.              Florida breaks daily coronavirus record with almost 10,000 new cases       New York Post, 27 Jun 2020 21:28Z       Florida has continued its morbid streak of breaking coronavirus records -       reporting 9,585 new cases of COVID-19 Sat, the state's Dept of       Health ...              Fauci, White House Task Force urge adults under 40 to act more responsibly       to help slow spread of COVID-19       USA TODAY, 26 Jun 2020       Administration officials pleaded with adults under 40 on Fri to act       responsibly to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
